Dude USD is on a tear right now. With all the concern about the Euro-zone having to bail out Greece, Portugal and Spain, the Euro has been tanking relative to the dollar. Anyways, that trend will continue, although who knows if we'll get as close to parity as we were when the Euro was introduced...

Don't get me wrong, this wine is good, but I think it's more mid-level good than top end good. Agree with the mark-down sentiment, but eventually, the market we're in will disappear and it will be back to the "we can sell everything for full price" era. Perhaps the Loire won't be a part of that though. The Loire is sort of a recent--as in last couple of years--obsession for me, so I don't really know how prices have been historically. Good wines are way cheaper than from other regions though...probably what attracted me in the first place.

Sweet, Chinon. Got a bottle of this (don't I always!) and have been holding off on it until I drink a few other Loire Cab Francs. The limestone and flint makes me think it may have some hidden magic.

And yep, I bought it at full price, too. Unless there's something I really want, I should just order in quantity when the markdowns hit. They're all done at the same time.
