Domaine de la Chanteleuserie Bourgueil 2009

This is another Kermit Lynch joint. My neighbor had me over to taste this; I've had the 2005 before. About 11$. This is a wine that reminds me I love Cab Franc. This wine is fresh and bright with superb balance. Red fruit (berries), along with an almost piney, earthy, peppery, cut-grass nose. The epitome of Cab Franc. I'm definitely going to have to get some of this. It's absolutely delicious. A

I just got a bottle of a different cuvee from this producer, Beauvais, that I'll be trying soon. Should have known you'd already be on their trail! Wonder what soil types the vines for the cuvee you tasted are grown on. I'm guessing sand and gravel as the Beauvais is 50% more expensive and come from tuffeau. At least that's usually the price/prestige logic in the Loire.

Isn't it great the "expensive" vin de garde is still only $16 or $17 in Bourgueil and Chinon?

Cool. Let me know how it is. I liked this wine a lot. It was quite good. I'm going to Paris in a couple of months; I'm going to see if I can shoehorn a trip to somewhere in the Loire. Probably won't get to Chinon (I guess that it's a pain to get there on the train), but I probably will get somewhere in the Loire...not quite sure where yet, but somewhere.

I may also try to get to Gigondas and maybe even a couple of Chateauneuf du Pape estates since we're going to spend a day in Avignon too.
